If we harbour promotion ambitions, what do the Lichties need to do with the rest of their season?
Looking at the tables for the past decade in Division 3, (if we exclude the two seasons when the title was bought - by Gretna and East Fife respectively), the average points total for the division champions has been 74 points and to claim the fourth and final playoff spot 58 points.
Assuming no one team runs away with it, that means we need from our remaining 23 games - 52 points to be in the running for the title, and 36 to have a reasonable chance of the final playoff spot
So far this season, we've averaged 1.7 points per game. We need just over 1.6 points from our remaining fixtures for a playoff spot but a challenging 2.3 points for a tilt at the title (ie 18 wins out of the last 23 games).
