Former EastEnders actor and sports journalist Tom Watt went to Gayfield last year to experience watching football at the ground, which sits just yards away from the icy North Sea.

Arbroath FC featured prominently in the Football Outposts series he presented looking at grounds around Britain.

Watt is now doing another series on Football Outposts across Europe and said he felt it was important to return to Gayfield, where the previous series kicked off.

He said: “There are lovely people at the football club and we had such a good time last year. People’s attitudes here sum up why lower league football continues to matter to as many people as it does.

“It was great to meet up with the chairman John Christison and manager Paul Sheerin again.”
