A perfect afternoon for football ruined by the referee. I walked onto the Gayfield turf - there was NO sign of frost, certainly not in either goalmouth which I checked or anywhere else. The temperature was 5 degrees. The turf was slightly soft and yielding - ideal for a game. It was a cool bright day with a very light breeze - a perfect afternoon for football.
As one of many fans, both home and away, who made a long return trip to Gayfield this afternoon, the decision of the referee to postpone the game at late notice was a complete fiasco. This was cancelled less than an hour before kick-off - it didn't even feature on the Radio
