Doris double dents Stirling ambitions
Crocked STEVEN Doris put a dent in Stirling's promotion ambitions with a fine double for Arbroath in last night’s Second Division match at Forthbank.
Doris scored in each half to earn the Red Lichties a valuable point towards safety and, at the same time, handing leaders Alloa a boost.
Stirling have three games in hand over the leaders but are now 11 points adrift.
Arbroath took the lead in the 19th minute. Slack defending allowed Steve Hislop to cut the ball back and Doris swept the ball past Scott Christie.
Stirling's equaliser came seven minutes before half-time when defender Andy Graham headed in from close range. The home side went ahead on 50 minutes thanks to a stunning goal from Iain Russell. Stirling looked in control at that point and missed a couple of chances to add to their lead but, with 17 minutes left, Doris scored his second of the night to deny the home side victory.
