Lichties sweep Clyde aside - match stats

sweptDisappointing turnout given our position - 604 and those that were there were supportive if slightly on edge at times

The starting lineup was the same as Saturday at Broadwood - and the makeshift defence managed their second clean sheet with Hill called upon much less in recent games despite a fair bit of possession by the visitors.  Clyde managed only two attempts on goal all evening.

BBC:  Arbroath saw off Clyde for the second time in four days to move to within touching distance of automatic promotion from the Third Division.

The home side took the lead in the 25th minute when Steven Doris connected with Gavin Swankie's cross from the right to convert from 12 yards.

Swankie found the top corner from the edge of the area just before half-time.

Kieran McAnespie missed the chance to add a third after the break, wasting two close-range headers

"The opening goal saw Scullion fail to close down Swankie properly and from his cut back, Lithgow's attempted clearance laughably ran straight to Doris who side-footed in. That came just a minute after Swankie skied a shot past the post when a goal looked like a certainty.

Halliwell then pulled off a truly ridiculous save to tip Doris' point blank header over the bar, before he held Sheerin's shot following the corner. Then came the second goal, with Brown and Gray running straight into each other and with them both flat out on the turf, Swankie ran past Scullion's pathetic challenge and fired high into the net.

The second half saw literally nothing happen"
