Strong Lichtie showing to match the leaders

For the second fixture running - since the Clyde game was postponed - we're away at the league leaders. Near bankrupt Stirling Albion have opened up an early gap at the top

Arbroath's starting lineup was the same as a fortnight away to Alloa, with Scott and Sellars up front, Redman, Watson, McCulloch in the middle and a back four of Rennie, Ratrray, Dobbins and Bishop. A good turnout of Lichties in the away fans

A superb game of football in the first half, whih would have graced a higher division. Albion started brightly moving the ball around quickly and confidently as we were pressed back. Then a counterattack saw the ball out wide to Rennie in an advanced position on the right and he swung in a great cross for Scott to beat the defender to head a powerful goal after 7 minutes.

We couldn't hold on for long. A cross from the left found Roberston unmarked on the 6 yard line to head an easy equaliser. A bit deflating
Though pressed back, we continued to make promising breaks forward, Bryan Scott was having a strong game causing problems on the ball. On 16 minutes, a massive Rennie throw-in from the right was met by Scott and it looped into the top right hand coner to put us ahead again

Albion loooked dangerous and incisive. After 33 minutes, good play by Grehan manage to float a cross to the far right post and, unmarked, McKenna headed past Hill.

Raeside replaced Rattray at halftime. We thought we would be on the back foot second half but took the initiative and after sustaioned pressure McCafferty shot bounced back off the left hand post with the keeper beaten.

Albion came more into the game with 20 minutes to go but we still posed a threat going forward. After some home pressure, another free header from Albions strjer went to Darren Hill who then made another good save for an angled shot from their left winger

In the last 5 minutes we tended to sit too deep. Rennie was injured and replaced by Flyer, then Sellars replaced by Hislop. Perhaps the best chance second came when Scott was sent clear but their onrushing keeper parried his lob.

A draw was a fair result. Stirling had slighlty more possession but didn't carve out much second half as our defence stood solid. We looked to attack whenever we could committing bodies forward and could have taken all three points.

Nothing much wrong with the team on this showing - skill grit and determination. Scott had a fine game and McCulloch was everywhere.
